The State of Bahia, located in the extreme southern of the Northeast region, has a total area of 567.295,03 sq. km. It is the fifth-largest State in the country in territorial extension and corresponds to 36.3% of the total area of Brazil’s Northeast region. The State is composed of 417 municipalities.
